Experience has taught us that users rarely know exactly what they want in a system - or, at the very least, that what they want changes over the development cycle.
A common problem in the user-developer relationship is that the developer passively does exactly what's asked for, only to discover later that this isn't what was needed at all. Making changes then becomes a time-consuming, expensive and sometimes painful process. This isn't to criticize users; if a system doesn't satisfy their needs, the developer is equally "to blame", if not more so.
Our approach attempts to minimize the possibility of such a mismatch through a combination of using our experience and letting users drive system scope and functionality. Our experience has familiarized us with a wide range of cutting-edge and innovative business theory and models, many of which we now use to interact with our clients and how we deliver our solutions to the marketplace.
